Bursting into the Light

I took some photos the other day on my bike ride and I haven't really found a good opportunity to post them on the blog.  But finally, I have come up with an idea that will let me post them.  Most likely this will be really lame but at least I'll have gotten the photos our there.  So bear with me as I wax metaphorically.

Flashback to late August.  It is still hot during the day but you can feel Fall in the the early morning air.  It has been a long racing season and I'm ready to hang up the bike and spend Autumn pursuing other activities that have been neglected throughout the season like camping and hiking.

Flashforward to January.  After a long off-season, training begins.  At this point you know the date of the first race but it seems so far off in the distance you really pay it no heed.  You enter the tunnel of the early season.  You're training in darkness, not knowing if you are doing the right thing, not knowing how fit you are but it doesn't really matter because the start of that race season is just a distance light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel.

But suddenly, before you know it, January and most of February have slipped through your fingers and suddenly that light is almost blindingly close.

Now, with the first Triple Crown Race of the year just days away in Bonelli Park, CA it is about time to burst into the light, see if all the work I put in during the off-season has paid off and kick off a new season.

Bonelli almost didn't happen for me but thanks to a lot of hard work from Pete at Felt Bikes and Jim at Kenda Tires things have come together (thanks guys!).  My Felt Nine Team frame has been priority shipped from the Felt factory and should be in LA today.  Jim will pick it up and have it at the venue when I arrive late on Thursday with the rest of my parts.  Then it will be a late night on Thursday to get it built up, a lot of measurements and adjusting to get it fit right on Friday, and then time to race on Saturday and Sunday.
