10...9...8...
The countdown to the beginning of the XC racing season has begun.
I'm hanging out in a motel in San Dimas, CA. This time tomorrow I'll just be about to finish my first cross country race of the year. I'll be racing the first Triple Crown Race at Bonelli Park. It is an interesting format. We race the cross country race tomorrow and then on Sunday we race a short track and a super d race. They'll combine the result from the XC and the best result from the short track or the super d to determine the winner.
It has been a hectic 24 hours. I drove from Tucson to LA with Sam yesterday. On our way into the Inland Empire we made a pit stop at the Oakley HQ and got styled out with some new shades. More on that later.
Next, it was a stop at the hotel of Jim Wannamaker, the head of marketing at Kenda and the main reason I have a job riding my bike.

Jim Wannamaker and I, modeling the new team duds
I grabbed two brand new Felt Nine LTD frames that had been shipped to Jim, one for me and one for my teammate Colin. The frame is amazing. Superlight and some of the thinnest carbon I have ever seen. Felt obviously put a ton of thought into this bike, keeping the carbon as thin as possible where they can and thickening it where reinforcement is needed. The result is the stiffest and lightest frame I have ever seen.
Then it was to the hotel and time for a late night bike building session.
We called it quits a little after midnight and finished things up this morning. I just got back from a pre-ride on the course. The new ride is incredible. Can't wait to race it tomorrow.

The bike stand on the carpet and the tools on the bed look rad. I know life on the road as mtb racer can be a little rough. I was an athlete in college but now I race my ss. If you ever need a room for a night in San Diego, Let me know, my wife and I can put you up if you don't mind the suburbs.
The Office!!!
Thanks for the offer. We drove through San Diego for the first time on the way to the race. Looks really cool and would love to spend some time there. If I ever get a chance to head there I'll let you know. Thanks.
