Bio
I grew up riding bikes around the neighborhood, building jumps and getting into trouble, but I was more of a ball sports kid growing up. I played soccer, basketball, baseball, football, and hockey through high school. My Uncle Charlie got me into mountain bike riding but I didn’t get into racing until I saw my brother Sam do a mountain bike race. I thought that it looked like a lot of fun. The next chance I got I did a race and was hooked from then on. I started racing in 2000 but didn’t take it seriously until my freshman year in college in 2003. At that point I bought a road bike, a trainer, and Joe Friel’s “Mountain Bike Training Bible” and started riding my bike indoors throughout the Bozeman, MT winter. After that winter I moved through the ranks quickly and made the jump to the professional mountain bike ranks in 2004. I raced as a privateer for a year and then got hooked up with the Cannondale Mountain Bike Team for three years. I raced for the Kenda-Titus-Hayes Team last year and raced for the Kenda-Tomac-Hayes Team this year.
I graduated from Montana State University in December of 2006 and soon thereafter I moved south to avoid Montana winters. I have been spending my winters working at The Cycling House in Tucson, AZ. When Tucson gets too hot (early April) I make the move to Durango, CO where I spend the rest of my year.
I have incredibly supportive parents who make it to as many races as they can. I wouldn’t be riding my bike if it wasn’t for the support of my parents and my brother.
